Simpson Strong-Tie THGQ2-SDS3 – Truss Girder Hanger w/ SDS Screws – G90 Galvanized

The THGQ is a hanger designed for a girder truss or a structural composite lumber beam attached to a girder truss. A lower-cost alternative to bolted hangers, the THGQ uses Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws to provide high load capacities and easier installation. The THGQ offers minimum and maximum fastener quantities to accommodate varying design needs.

Installation

• Use all specified fasteners.
• Fill all round holes; additionally, fill triangle holes to obtain maximum values.
• Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws are supplied for all round and triangle holes.
• All multiple carried and carrying members must be fastened together to act as a single unit.
• The screw length should be equal to the assembly thickness of the supporting girder. For applications where the length of the supplied SDS screws does not match the thickness, appropriate-length SDS screws should be used instead.
• Girders must have adequate lateral bracing to prevent excessive displacement due to secondary torsional stresses (refer to ANSI/TPI 1-2014 Section 7.5.3.5).
